Dr. Edmund Stoiber on stage of 30. EBS Symposium

From 18 to 20 September 2019, the 30th EBS Symposium, one of the largest student-run business congresses in Germany, was all about the topic “Breaking Barriers. Challenge your tomorrow”. As patron, Dr. Joachim Faber, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Börse, welcomed the around 850 participants to the campus of EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht in Oestrich-Winkel.

Every year the idyllic campus of EBS Universität in Oestrich-Winkel bursts at the seams on three days. In its anniversary year, the EBS Symposium once again brought hundreds of students, professors, professionals and other interested parties to the campus, offering lectures, discussions and a career fair. The student organizers were able to attract top-class speakers, including David Wang, Deputy Director of Huawei Germany, and Sabine Bendiek, CEO of Microsoft Germany. The highlight of the last day of the Symposium was the presentations by former Bavarian Prime Minister Dr. Edmund Stoiber and German EU Commissioner Günther Oettinger.

“It’s great to see the enthusiasm with which our students go ahead and what they set up, from inviting first-class speakers to organizing the stage and technology,” says University President Prof. Dr. Markus Ogorek enthusiastically.

“Organising the 30th EBS Symposium was a huge opportunity in my life. An opportunity for which I am very grateful. Looking back, I can say for my entire team that we have never learned so much in such a short time before. It was an adventure in which you grew not only as a team but as a person. We are proud to look back on a great and successful 30th anniversary of the EBS Symposium. At the same time, we hope to be able to actively support the organizers of the next symposium in the future,” says Chairman Maximilian Koehn-Hevernick.

During the Career Fair and numerous company presentations, the young professionals had the opportunity to enter into dialogue with attractive employers. The “Innovation Fair” and workshops with renowned companies such as the management consultancies Boston Consulting Group and McKinsey&Company offered further opportunities for exchange.
