On October 22, 2026, EBS Law School launched the legal AI platform “HarveyAI” on campus with a training session, a hackathon, and a keynote presentation.
Since artificial intelligence is fundamentally transforming legal work, EBS Law School aims to familiarize its students with these developments early on. Starting this semester, it has therefore become part of the Harvey Law School Program. As one of the first four universities in Germany, it now offers its students free access to HarveyAI.
Unlike general AI chatbots, HarveyAI is specifically designed for legal workflows. Contracts can be drafted and reviewed directly in Word, large volumes of documents can be analyzed, and typical tasks can be completed using pre-built workflows. Harvey combines several leading AI models with licensed content from specialized legal publishers.
To kick things off, interested students gathered to learn about the tool and try it out for themselves. The event was attended by representatives from the provider, the legal profession, and academia. Guests included Florian Schwind and Corvin Kieselhorst from Harvey, as well as Simon Ahammer, Director of Legal Tech and Digitalization at the law firm HEUKING.
After the opening remarks, Simon Ahammer provided insights into the day-to-day operations of the law firm. This was followed by a training session in which the features and potential applications of Harvey were presented. In the subsequent hackathon, the students put what they had learned into practice and tested their own ideas for using the tool. They also learned how they can get involved as Harvey Student Ambassadors on campus and what responsibilities this role entails.
The program concluded with a keynote address by Prof. Dr. Emanuel V. Towfigh, Associate Dean of EBS Law School, followed by a discussion, before the day wrapped up with a group gathering.
With this kick-off event, EBS Law School is launching its work with Harvey—and, above all, helping students learn to use AI confidently and critically, a skill that will serve them well beyond their studies and into their professional lives.
