EBS University is to become part of SRH Higher Education

SRH Higher Education GmbH takes over 100 percent shares of EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht gGmbH.

With this strategic partnership, SRH strengthens and secures its leading position on the higher education market and guarantees the future development of EBS in the long term.

The Heidelberg education and healthcare company SRH is focussing on expanding its position on the higher education market. WIth the EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht, SRH now owns ten universities with more than 12,000 students. These include the Universidad Paraquayo Alemana (UPA) in Asunción, founded in 2013.

 

“The EBS University is the perfect complement to our offering on the higher education market. We invest in quality and, together, we will further develop the internationalisation process”, said Chairman of SRH, Prof. Dr. Christof Hettich.

 

The EBS University was founded in 1971 and includes the EBS Business School in Oestrich-Winkel and the EBS Law School in Wiesbaden, which was opened in 2011. “We can now offer the entire spectrum from bachelor degree to habilitation and can work together on developing attractive study and further education programmes”, Prof. Dr. Jörg Winterberg, CEO of SRH Higher Educationa GmbH explained.

 

Faculties, alumni association, EBS foundation and EBS Universität committees all support the new company structure. “With SRH, we now have an economically strong partner with 50 years’ experience on the education market. Building on these foundations, the university’s future development is secured in the long term”, EBS Managing Director Holger Follmann confirmed.

 

It was agreed not to disclose any financial details. Name, locations and workplaces of the EBS University remain as they were. The non-profit SRH Higher Education GmbH will also take over the eight properties on the Oestrich-Winkel campus and invest in renovation and expansion, in particular in Schloss Reichartshausen.

 

SRH Education and Healthcare: SRH is a leading provider of education and healthcare services. It operates private universities, educational centres, schools and hospitals. With its 12,000 employees, SRH serves 780,000 education clients and patients each year and generates a turnover of 840 million euros. The parent company is SRH Holding (SdbR), a non-profit foundation based in Heidelberg. SRH aims to improve both quality of life and life opportunities. SRH Higher Education GmbH is a non-profit subsidiary of SRH Holding.

 

EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht: EBS is one of the leading universities of business economics in Germany. Approximately 2,000 students study in two faculties, situated in Wiesbaden and Oestrich-Winkel. The EBS Business School, the oldest private university for business studies in Germany, has been teaching future leaders with an international focus since 1971. Starting in 2011, the most recently founded law faculty in Germany, the EBS Law School, offers a fully-fledged, classic law study programme aiming at a state examination in law with a focus on economic law and an integrated Master in Business (M.A.). Furthermore, with its further education courses, the EBS supports industry’s professional and managerial staff. In the research field, the main focus is on economic application.
