EBS teams delight L'Oréal with innovative ideas

For 27 years, the L’Oréal Brandstorm Business Game brings together ambitious students from all over the world.

Even though the old format of the business game L’Oréal Brandstorm was changed into a Hackathon, selected EBS Master students got the chance to present their innovative ideas in front of L’Oréal managers in April. This year, they were challenged to introduce men to the world of cosmetics. Together with the brand L’Oréal Paris Men Expert, the students should develop a life changing innovation, consisting of a great product and an excellent service that will revolutionize grooming for Generation X.

In January this year, the students were introduced to the challenge by Prof. Mattmüller. In only a few weeks, the students worked on a pre-case study, whereby they analyzed the brand and the market that L’Oréal Men Expert is operating in. Additionally, the students developed a deeper understanding for the customers and the needs they are currently having. Thereafter, the students presented their final digital communication strategy and disruptive innovation in front of Prof. Mattmüller and his team.

In April, the best teams were chosen to present their ideas in front of a jury of L’Oréal managers Ruben Latz (Talent Acquisition Manager) and Arne Rehbach (Product Manager L’Oréal Men Expert). Team 8 (Johanne Haupt, Theresa Lehmann and Conny Li) won first place. The Outside the Box price was awarded to Team 9 (Qi Lu, Deepak Parmani and Tingting Xu).
