Online opening ceremony of the Gründungsfabrik Rheingau!

18 June 2020 | By: Pressestelle EBS Universität

On Wednesday, 03.06.2020, punctually at 17:00 h, more than 100 participants watched the live stream opening of the “Gründungsfabrik Rheingau”, the joint project of the two local universities; Hochschule Geisenheim (HGU) and EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht.

After the welcoming speech given by co-project coordinator Rama Suleiman (HGU), the stage was then handed over to the project initiators and project partners. The mayor of the university town of Geisenheim Christian Aßmann, the chairman of the Rheingauer Volksbank Andreas Zeiselmaier as well as the two university presidents Prof. Hans-Reiner Schultz (HGU) and Prof. Markus Ogorek (EBS) described their impressions of how this first joint project of the two Rheingau universities developed and congratulated all participants and partners on their successful presentation of the concept. Dr. Christoph Munck (EBS), the second co-project coordinator, then explained the self-defined tasks and goals of the Rheingau “start-up factory”. These are based on the pillars of entrepreneurship coaching & referral consulting, the creation of spatial perspectives by offering co-working places, various teaching programmes and networking events as well as events & pitch functions - mainly, but not exclusively, focusing on ecological, sustainable and social innovation. A virtual tour of the premises showed the unique atmosphere of the elaborately renovated and listed factory building. Live pitches on the stage of the Gründungsfabrik Rheingau were the highlight of the event. Two teams from both universities presented their start-up concepts. Team ebb&flow (HGU) dealt with new ways of sustainable and resource-saving use of stainless steel barrels for serving wine. PlantYourAir (EBS) has developed an innovative system to improve the air quality in working areas. A Q&A session made the event more relaxed and actively involved the audience. Following this successful kick-off event, the Gründungsfabrik Rheingau’s first teaching programmes can now begin - given the present situation these will again take a digital format. June 10 sees the start of the so-called FRESHMEN programme, a bi-weekly lecture series, open to all those interested in founding a business and innovation projects at the Rheingau universities.
