EBS Universität honours entrepreneur's commitment to science

On Tuesday, 12 March 2019, entrepreneur and venture capitalist Falk F. Strascheg received an honorary doctorate from the EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht for his services to Hessen as a centre of science and for promoting entrepreneurship at EBS Universität. The certificate was presented by University President Prof. Markus Ogorek and Prof. Ronald Gleich, Head of the Strascheg Institute for Innovation, Transformation & Entrepreneuship (SITE).

Decisive for the award of an honorary doctorate to Falk F. Strascheg are his outstanding commitment to science, his services to business and his exemplary personality.

For the past 39 years, Falk F. Strascheg has specialized in founding and developing high-tech companies and supporting them as a business angel and venture capitalist. He holds numerous supervisory and advisory board positions in international companies. He also founded the “Falk F. Strascheg Foundation” and the “Renate und Falk Strascheg Foundation”, which finance various scientific and cultural projects and is active in the field of care for young people and the elderly as well as cultural heritage preservation.

In the field of science, the native Austrian supports business-related disciplines at universities. In 2002 he founded the “Strascheg Center for Entrepreneurship” (SCE) at Munich’s University of Applied Sciences. In November 2007 he initiated the Strascheg Institute for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (SITE) at EBS Universität. Since then, Falk F. Strascheg has been closely associated with EBS Universität and has been proactively involved in the strategic development of the Institute for the past eleven years, advising the Institute’s Management Team and participating in teaching and research activities at the university. He was also a long-standing member of the Foundation Board and the former EBS Board of Trustees.

“The Doctoral Commission’s eulogy, approved by the Honorary Committee and the Senate, concludes that Mr Strascheg has rendered outstanding services to Wiesbaden and Germany as a centre of science. This not only addresses the founding of the SITE and the EBS becoming a university, but also the work of Mr Strascheg, which has benefited many scientific institutions,” says University President Markus Ogorek. Professor Gleich continued: “We are very proud to have such an impressive personality as Falk Strascheg at our side and are very pleased to be able to thank him today with an honorary doctorate for his achievements.
