Digital Minister Prof. Kristina Sinemus speaks on “Ethical issues in the digital world” at EBS Universität
Universitypresident Prof. Dr. Markus Ogorek welcomed Prof. Dr. Kristina Sinemus, Hessian State Minister for Digital Strategy and Development.
Digitalisation is changing the economy, society and our personal lives. The Hessian Ministry for Digital Strategy and Development was founded in January 2019 under the direction of Prof. Dr. Kristina Sinemus to structure and control the process in the long term. In the meantime, around 50 employees are working on issues relating to artificial intelligence, companies’ requirements and societal acceptance.
For Prof. Dr. Sinemus, social dialogue is essential. Her focus is always on the fact that digitalisation serves people and not the other way around. This core statement was also reflected in her lecture on Ethical questions in the digital world - Does human dignity need an update? She pointed out that digitalisation offers a variety of opportunities and freedoms, such as opportunities for training and further education. Employees will be able to concentrate on creative work and open up new fields of activity, because routine tasks will be replaced, leaving time for more substantive topics.
In the ensuing discussion, the Minister of State addressed the many questions the students had on this topic.
