Studium Fundamentale I

Fall Term
ECTS:

Module Owner:
Prof. Dr. Richard Raatzsch
Studium Fundamentale I takes a focus on a central topic of contemporary science: uncertainty. We explain how this relates to deep-going changes towards a new understanding of the complexity of real-world systems and to the emergence of massive simulation (or: uncertainty quantification) as a new scientific method.
To that aim, we investigate the concept of algorithm, its platform-based range, and its limitations. We draw conclusions for practical applications in industry (e.g. cyber-physical systems), leadership (e.g. design thinking), and social life (e.g. credits for pro-social behavior).
We intend to provide an overall picture of digitization and to embed it in a broader philosophical setting.
