The aim of this module is to provide the participants with a sound understanding of fundamental concepts and approaches in strategy development and implementation, and to enable them to apply these concepts to specific situations. The topics discussed in this course cover various competitive issues faced by businesses in different industries, issues faced by diversified corporations, and by multinational corporations. Many of the strategic approaches introduced in the course draw on microeconomic theories and concepts (e. g. supply-demand models, transaction cost economics, basic game theory). The course would also cover topics such as strategic alliances, new business development, internationalisation, multinational structures, blue ocean strategy, disruptive innovation etc. The course involves a series of lectures, case studies, and presentations.
