Programme structure

YOUR EDUCATION IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

The EMBA programme at EBS Universität and Durham University offers you a first-class academic education in an international context.

The study programme is based on two comprehensive sets of experience - Durham University, UK and EBS Universität, Germany. It provides you with detailed insight into the leadership work of the international business world.

During your studies, you will explore the functionality of global markets, understand how to manage transnational business relationships, deepen your expertise and expand your international network.

The 18-month programme lasts three semesters. During these, you will complete nine basic modules, three elective modules and the final Strategic Business Project. You will start the Strategic Business Project right at the beginning of the programme and work on it throughout your studies. During your studies, two residencies at our partner university in Durham are planned. One week takes place at the beginning of the first semester, another at the beginning of the last semester. For an additional international experience, we offer a special elective module “International Business in Context”. This module adds experience abroad to the international component of your studies. You will immerse into another new corporate and national culture while exploring a specific business topic. At the end of your studies, you will integrate your newly acquired skills and experience into your Strategic Business Project, which will conclude with a thesis.

What to expect during the EMBA at EBS Universität and Durham University:

Residential Weeks
The first Residential Week allows you to get to know your fellow students, the study programme, Durham City and the Business School. A major part of the time is devoted to team building. This takes place in indoor and outdoor activities on the grounds of the Lake District National Park. This way, you get to know your fellow students better, make valuable contacts and develop your soft skills.

The second Residential Week focuses on the Boardroom Exercise Module, a real management simulation that will keep you busy for the first week. The course is highly interactive and focuses on using your newly acquired skills and expertise.

Basic Modules
In the basic modules, you will deepen your economic knowledge and expand your research skills. The first nine months of your Executive MBA programme consist of nine basic modules, most of which are offered on the “Schloss” campus of EBS Universität. Two of the basic modules are completed during the Residential Weeks in Durham. Lectures are offered once a month and take place over three days from Thursday to Saturday.

Elective modules
Sharpen your profile for the job market. Starting in the second semester, we offer a variety of elective modules. These allow you to tailor the content of your studies to your professional needs and career goals. The elective modules are offered either at EBS Universität or in Durham, with the option to study at another international location.

Your study location - Living and learning in the Rheingau

The Rheingau is known worldwide for its Riesling, as are the fortresses, Castles and abbeys along the Rhine. Only a few kilometres downriver, the UNESCO World Heritage Site Upper Middle Rhine Valley with Loreley and Drosselgasse can be found. Every year a large number of tourists visit this region, which has so much to offer. Whether gastronomic, sporting or cultural, Oestrich-Winkel in the Rheingau provides plenty of variety for leisure activities.

The EBS campus in Oestrich-Winkel is also home to one of these historic, fascinating buildings in the Rheingau - Schloss Reichartshausen. Close to the Rhine and surrounded by vineyards, teaching and learning take place at this location in a unique environment. In addition to offices for teaching staff and service departments, the castle also houses several lecture rooms and representative event rooms.

THE EMBA SELECTION DAY

As part of our application process, we examine the performance and study ability of each applicant. We take a lot of time and the utmost care in this process since we only accept the most suitable applicants.

Due to the current extraordinary situation, we have changed our admission process to a contactless, digital version. You can now pass all components online.

PART 1: INDIVIDUAL SELECTION INTERVIEW
If your application documents meet our admission requirements, we will invite you to an individual 50-minute interview. During this interview, we will check your motivation and social skills. The decisive factors are performance and learning motivation, the social-communicative profile, the willingness to take social responsibility and the applicant’s own initiative.

PART 2: FINAL COUNSELLING INTERVIEW
In a concluding discussion with you, we define expectations and clarify the last details and questions about your EMBA studies. You’ll also receive feedback on where you can improve to get the best possible output of the programme.

Such a selection procedure is exhausting and exciting at the same time. We know this and relieve our applicants by communicating the results as quickly as possible. This provides planning security – for all parties involved.

Tuition Fees

WHAT ARE THE TUITION FEES?

The quality of teaching is our focus: EBS Universität represents one of the best management programmes throughout the German-speaking world. As a private university, we finance ourselves to a large extent from tuition fees.
