EBS Center of Ethics

EBS Universität is committed to educating students to become responsible leaders in both business and legal professions. Responsible leadership begins with an awareness of one’s own privilege and the recognition that it does not represent a universal norm. As members of a small and privileged segment of society, it is easy to lose sight of the vastly different realities faced by millions who live under far more difficult circumstances. Sound judgement must therefore be grounded in an understanding of their lived experiences that are shaped by scarcity, both social and environmental.

The EBS Center of Ethics fosters interdisciplinary exchange and practical ethical engagement through partnerships with local communities. We offer Service Learning (SL) opportunities that bridge theoretical principles and socially relevant action, enabling mutual learning and research. SL connects individual experience with structural analysis and concrete assistance with systemic reflection. This approach deepens learning, cultivates critical thinking, and promotes social responsibility.

We believe that social engagement should stand alongside academic excellence and professional training as a core pillar of responsible leadership. That is why we encourage students to engage from their first semester onwards. Our mandatory SL course in the fifth semester builds on this early commitment, fostering long-term involvement and deeper insight. Social responsibility, in this way, becomes a sustained learning journey not a one-off intervention.

We maintain a robust and strong network with international and local organizations that address the immediate social, environmental and economic issues on the ground in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals. Follow us on our social media platforms to learn more about our Service Learning programs, and feel free to reach out with any questions.
