Michael Goldhammer holds the Chair of Public Law with a focus on administrative law as well as comparative law and philosophy of law. He received his doctorate in 2012 with a thesis on property theory; he completed his pos-doc studies (Habilitation) at the University of Bayreuth in 2018 with a thesis on prognostic decisions of public authority. Research and study visits have taken him to Ann Arbor (Michigan), Melbourne (Victoria) and Cambridge (UK).
Michael Goldhammer publishes in German and European public law, including international references. His work is characterised by disciplinary openness and an interest in the foundations of law. He has received several awards and scholarships (including DFG, DAAD, Michigan Grotius Fellowship).
In the summer semester 2024, he is on a research leave semester and is working on the project "Kommunikativer Realakt und Ethical Turn" funded by the Volkswagen Foundation.
