Professor Dr. Roman Poseck has been Honorary Professor for criminal and procedural law at the EBS Law School since October 2016. It is expected that he will give his inaugural lecture in the Spring trimester 2017.

The Acting President of the Higher Regional Court Frankfurt am Main has been a visiting lecturer at the Law School since 2014, with a special focus on criminal and procedural law. Prior to this he lectured for over ten years on the same subjects at the Hessian University for Police and Public Administration.

Prof. Dr. Roman Poseck studied law at the Universities of Gießen and Utrecht. He gained a doctorate at the Justus-Liebig Universität in Gießen with a doctoral thesis about “The criminal liability of members of the supervisory board of a public limited company” and worked as a graduate research assistant and non-professorial academic staff member for various chairs. After working at BASF AG for one year as a company lawyer, he began in the judiciary as judge at the District Court of Limburg an der Lahn in April 2000. One year later he was appointed head of the criminal law division of the Hessian Ministry of Justice. Subsequently, he held several positions in the Ministry of Justice, latterly from 2007 to 2012 as Head of the Central Department and permanent deputy to the Secretary of State. In 2002 he was appointed judge for life, and in 2004 judge at the Higher Regional Court Frankfurt am Main. There, he has held the office of Presiding Judge since 2012. At the same time he is Presiding Judge of the 26th Civil Senate. Moreover, from April 2014 he was deputy member and, since January 2017, is a permanent member of the Superior Court of the State of Hesse.
