The professorship’s teaching and research fields include civil law, commercial and corporate law, as well as banking law. Civil law regulates the legal relationships between private persons, commercial law is tailored to the needs of business people and their special private law. Corporate law comprises the law of private associations - such as the public limited company - as well as “cooperative” contractual obligations of private companies. Finally, the banking law includes the legal regulations required to secure and implement money concepts. The basic principle behind this is the state’s interest in a fully functional and stable financial market. Teaching focusses on imparting the required knowledge in these fields of law. In this, the chair represents the entire spectrum of property and company law. In particular, the chair focusses on providing in-depth training in banking and capital markets legislation.
