For any further questions about the intensive Real Estate Project Development programme, we would be glad to advise you personally.

On the intensive Real Estate Project Development programme, you will become an expert in the interdisciplinary questions surrounding the concept, planning, design and financing of a wide range of residential and commercial properties. Closely related fields, real estate management, law, construction technology and architecture are also examined and considered from a sustainability perspective, with a view to future trends.
You look at the property from every angle.
Project development is the most multifaceted and multidisciplinary field in the real estate industry, and is regarded as its supreme discipline. No other area within the industry brings together such a diverse range of topics so purposefully - while always keeping pace with the latest developments that need to be addressed: digitalisation, new ways of working, new mobility concepts, and increasing urbanisation.
You take every factor into account. Including the human factor.
Designed to closely reflect the real day-to-day realities of project work in the real estate industry, the programme prepares you optimally for your future as a leader. Of particular interest here: negotiation and conflict situations play a major role, since the analysis of personal negotiation strategies and personality profiles is one of the most important multidisciplinary skill areas in this field - and, as such, a decisive success factor.
What matters to us.
At EBS Universität, we shape leaders. That is why we place great emphasis on the direct transfer of knowledge. We achieve this through "real-life cases" - concrete, practice-based scenarios closely aligned with the programme - and through forward-looking interaction that keeps the wider world in view. Communication on equal footing is one of the key pillars of our university's approach.
On the intensive Real Estate Project Development programme, you gain in-depth coverage of every area relevant to project development today. With these skills, graduates go on to work - besides self-employment - at property developers, project development firms, banks, in asset management, in local government administration, engineering and architecture practices, as well as at insurers, investors and asset owners. Successful graduates receive the university certificate Real Estate Project Developer (EBS).

The programme strikes a balance between essential real estate theory and the practical experience of both the lecturers and the participants — a valuable combination that brings multiple perspectives to the course content. This creates excellent points of connection for every participant. On top of that, the institute links the lecturers' subject matter together, so that everyone can get the most out of the expertise of all those involved.

Academic Director:
Prof. Jan Mutl, Ph.D.
The total part-time programme runs for six months, comprising three modules with 19 on-campus days.
We begin with the key fundamentals and core objectives of project development from an academic perspective, examining success-critical and current issues relating to project costs and returns, analysing market indicators, and addressing topics such as stakeholder management. A further focus is placed on financing models and instruments — including in the context of possible funding programmes and tax relief available in connection with project development.
In the second module, alongside planning, construction and tax law topics relevant to real estate project development, we take a detailed look at tenancy law. Few other areas of law carry as much weight in the real estate industry, which is why we place particular emphasis here. In further sessions, we then move on to sale and purchase contract law and the tax considerations involved in structuring purchase prices. We also cover the concepts, benefits, costs and implementation of the most important certification and rating systems currently in use.
Here, we reinforce the fundamental tasks and challenges of project management using practical examples. We also focus intensively on spatial and urban planning, before building on this with the holistic management of construction projects and facility management. Our aim: not only to convey the planning and construction law aspects of sustainable project development, but also to highlight the growing importance of every facet of redevelopment — so you can make the most of the opportunities offered by developing existing stock. A highlight of this module is a set of concrete case studies from leading figures in the real estate and construction industries, addressing the particular characteristics of project development. Sustainability is another key theme running through this module. Also unusual: rather than sitting a standard written exam, you work in a team to develop a case study and a semester-long practical project, which are then presented to, and defended before, a panel of experts.
