Technological Trends in Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)

Background

Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is a promising development, offering excellent opportunities to industrial companies. IIoT is by no means an end to itself: It can be a contributing factor towards the achievement of corporate goals and offers an opportunity for differentiation in the global market. Still, a major challenge is to recognize relevant technological trends and to be prepared to make best use of possible business cases in the future.

Our study

This study aims at examining coming changes and trends in business that are driven by IIoT. The goal of the study is to provide assistance in navigating the ‘jungle’ of different approaches and concepts towards this topic. It achieves this goal thanks to close collaboration of partners from science (EBS Business School), industry associations (VDMA - Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau e.V.), trade fairs (Deutsche Messe AG) and management consultants (Horváth & Partners), who enable an examination of the topic IIoT from all relevant points of view.
