Katja Chandna-Hoppe holds the Chair of Civil Law, German and European Labour Law, Social Security Law and Comparative Law (Civil Law II) at the EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht, Oestrich-Winkel since October 2024.
Katja Chandna-Hoppe studied law at the University College London (UCL) (Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), 2010) and the University of Cologne. After she completed her legal clerkship in Frankfurt am Main and Washington D.C., she joined the Institute of Employment and Social Security law (Chair of Professor Dr. Raimund Waltermann) at the University of Bonn as a research assistant. Her Ph.D. project on Continued Employment beyond the Retirement Age (University of Bonn 2018, summa cum laude) was funded by a scholarship of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes). She then worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Employment and Social Security law at the University of Bonn. In 2024, Katja Chandna-Hoppe was habilitated by the University of Bonn with a habilitation thesis on Counterperformance in Contract Law (University of Bonn, 2024, Die Gegenleistung im Vertrag – Gegenstand, Grenzen und Vertragsrisiko, publication forthcoming).
