The Course

Shaping the future rather than being driven by it: turning AI into a decisive competitive factor

 

The path from idea to solution has never been so short – and never so challenging to navigate. Artificial intelligence opens up entirely new possibilities, but also demands new skills from you: you must be able to assess where AI creates added value, what legal boundaries apply, and how to successfully steer projects through this uncertainty.

 

This programme provides you with the roadmap and the tools to do just that. In six interlinked modules, we guide you from strategic assessment, through prompt-based requirements engineering and the legal framework, right through to autonomous AI agents and software development in dialogue with AI. Theory and practice are seamlessly interwoven, enabling you to apply what you have learnt directly within your organisation.


Concept in detail

Digital Transformation and AI Strategy:

Assessing your current position, an introduction to AI and a decision-making framework: When is it worth using AI – and when isn’t it? You will map your organisation on the AI maturity scale and develop a strategic roadmap.

 

Requirements Engineering in the Age of AI:

From traditional specifications to ‘prompt-based requirements’: How to develop and validate requirements in dialogue with AI, and translate them into robust outcomes.

 

Legal Framework for AI in Business:

The EU AI Act, copyright, liability, data protection and AI governance – what you need to know to act in a legally compliant and responsible manner.

 

Agile project management for AI projects:

Why AI projects require different management approaches, and how to successfully manage expectations between hype and reality.

 

Agentic AI & process automation:

How autonomous AI systems execute processes independently and where human oversight remains essential. Includes a live workshop: you’ll build a fully functional AI agent.

 

Vibe Coding: Gain initial insights into software development in dialogue with AI:

From prompt to working application. Concluding with a hackathon in which you’ll create your own prototype.

 

Additionally: Become part of the EBS network and take part in regular events to exchange ideas on artificial intelligence, so you can stay up to date!

What you ideally bring

The programme is aimed at executives and professionals, such as project and product managers, consultants, innovation managers and digitalisation experts, who are (or will be) actively responsible for or involved in AI projects and who act as a bridge between strategy and implementation. It is also aimed at entrepreneurs and decision-makers who wish to confidently shape the journey from idea to solution themselves.

 

The programme is also suitable for those interested in a career in management consultancy who have previously worked in business, industry or public administration - perhaps with a view to applying their experience in a consultancy role in future or to pursuing a new career path.

 

A technical or IT background is not required. All content is presented in a clear and practical manner; the focus is on applicability and practical skills.

  • Equivalent vocational training with at least one year’s professional experience

Dr. Tawia Odoi

 

Tawia Odoi is the founder of Dr Odoi Partners and an adviser on AI-driven value creation. He helps companies and investors translate AI initiatives into measurable business value. Previously, he was a member of the executive board at Lidl Digital and Head of Enterprise Sales for Retail & Consumer Goods at Amazon Web Services. Before that, he was responsible for European retail categories at Amazon. He completed his PhD on the success factors of AI transformations, is the author of the management books "KI-Exzellenz" and “KI-Masterclass”, and is a visiting lecturer on AI transformation at the University of St Gallen and the Executive School of EBS University.

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Julia Krönung

 

Professor Julia Krönung has been Professor of Business Administration, specialising in the design of socio-technical information systems, at the FernUniversität in Hagen since August 2023, where she heads the BiGsI Chair. Her research focuses on the design of socio-technical and AI-based information systems, including digital inclusion, ethics in systems development and user behaviour in the field of e-government.

André Hollstein is Head of the Executive Education division and Director of Digital Transformation & Organisational Development at EBS University. He has many years’ experience in business, academia and university teaching. In addition to his work at various universities (including as a professor of business informatics), he has extensive practical and industry experience gained through his long-standing roles at various commercial enterprises (including TÜV Rheinland and Droege & Comp.).

The course that brings ideas to life

The programme lasts a total of five days – including two online lectures, each lasting 180 minutes, held in two separate sessions. The number of participants is limited.

 

The following topics are covered in the certificate programme “AI-Driven Development: From Idea to Solution”:


Module 1

2 days of face-to-face training

 

Day 1: Digital transformation and AI strategy

  • Assessing the current state of digital transformation
  • Introduction to artificial intelligence
  • Strategic positioning and development of a decision-making framework: When is it worth using AI, and when is it not?
  • AI as a driver of transformation: business models, value chains and organisational structures in flux
  • From classical AI to Agentic AI: understanding the stages of evolution
  • Exercise: Mapping an organisation on the AI maturity scale and developing strategic use cases/a roadmap for the organisation’s further development

 

 

Day 2: Requirements Engineering in the Age of AI

  • The role of requirements engineering in the implementation of digital solutions
  • Rethinking requirements engineering: From traditional specifications to ‘prompt-based requirements’ and how LLMs are transforming requirements gathering, analysis and validation
  • Prompt-based requirements definition: Structured prompts as a new language between humans and machines
  • AI-Assisted Authoring: Tools and methods for the automated generation of user stories, acceptance criteria and test cases
  • Human-AI Synergy Model: AI as a collaborative partner rather than a replacement – quality assurance and human oversight
  • Hands-on exercise: Creating and validating requirements with AI support

Day 3: Legal framework for AI in business

  • An overview of the EU AI Act: risk categories, obligations and deadlines – what businesses need to know now
  • Copyright & AI-generated content: Who owns the output? Liability issues in AI-supported development
  • Data protection (GDPR) in the context of AI: training data, personal data, consent
  • AI governance in organisations: establishing policies, roles and responsibilities
  • Ethical guidelines: bias, fairness, transparency and explainability
  • Practical exercise: risk assessment of an AI use case in accordance with the EU AI Act

 

 

Day 4: Agile project management for AI projects

  • Agile fundamentals in the context of AI: Why AI projects benefit particularly from agility (uncertainty, iteration, rapid feedback)
  • Scrum & Kanban for AI projects: Adaptations to sprint planning, definition of done and retrospectives
  • Experimental Work: Hypothesis-driven development, A/B testing, MVP approaches for AI features
  • Stakeholder Management: Managing expectations in AI projects – navigating the gap between hype and reality
  • AI as a Project Management Assistant: Automated status reports, risk analyses and resource planning
  • Exercise: An AI project from concept to go-live


Module 2

2 days of face-to-face teaching

 

Day 5: Agentic AI & Process Automation: Developing and maintaining autonomous processes with AI

  • Introduction to Agentic AI and Agentic Frameworks: Architecture of autonomous AI systems: planning, tool usage, memory, reflection
  • Multi-agent systems: orchestration, role allocation and communication between agents
  • Process automation with AI agents: from RPA to intelligent automation: identifying, modelling and automating processes
  • Security & control: guardrails, sandboxing and human oversight in autonomous systems
  • Live workshop: Building a functional AI agent for a real-world business process

 

 

Day 6: Vibe Coding: Gaining initial insights into software development through dialogue with AI

  • What is Vibe Coding: Natural language software development, ‘the code is the conversation’
  • Limitations and responsibility: Why an understanding of architecture, testing and security expertise remain indispensable
  • Tools & platforms and their use cases
  • Vibe Coding in practice: From prompt to working application – workflows and patterns
  • Limitations and risks: Technical debt, security vulnerabilities, maintainability
  • Quality and security: Code reviews for AI-generated code, automated security scans (OWASP ZAP, Snyk, SonarQube), refactoring strategies
  • Closing hackathon: Developing a mini-application using Vibe Coding, from the initial idea through requirements engineering to a working prototype in less than 90 minutes

The “Managing Digital Transformation” certificate programme awards 6 ECTS credits, which can be counted towards the Master in Business (M.A.) with a specialisation in Digital Transformation.
