Hannes Wais, LL.M. (Cambridge)

• German and European law of obligations, including conflict of laws

Hannes Wais holds the Chair of Civil Law, European Private Law and Comparative Law.

He studied law in Heidelberg, Bologna and Cambridge. He received his doctorate from Heidelberg University with a dissertation on the law of international jurisdiction, and completed his habilitation at the same university with a thesis on the judicial review of standard terms and conditions.

Before joining EBS University, he served as a judge at a regional court (Landgericht). Hannes Wais has repeatedly taught as a Visiting Professor at Georgetown University (Washington, D.C.), was a Senior Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for European Procedural Law (Luxembourg), and has been a Visiting Researcher in the United States and in Italy.
