Programme structure

  • Degree: Master of Business Administration (MBA)
  • Study duration: 4 Semesters
  • Language: English
  • Start: January
  • ECTS: 80
  • Major field of study: Management
  • Double degree: Durham University Business School & EBS Universität

Participants on the EMBA programme benefit from the strengths and global international business expertise of both
universities. Faculty and speakers from across the world introduce a comprehensive range of topics that students from diverse international backgrounds explore and discuss.

This part-time 24 month is structured into four semesters. During the first three semesters a three-day course session is held typically once per month, and the fourth semester is for writing a dissertation. Most modules are delivered on the EBS “Schloss” campus in Oestrich-Winkel, Germany.

The programme starts with a highly effective and popular one-week residential stay at Durham University. During January of the second year students return to Durham to spend a second week in residence.

Both residential stays provide you the opportunity to experience Durham City, Durham University and team development events while progressing with your studies. The experience strengthens the group dynamic and transforms programme participants into a team.

Our experience has shown that students who meet on a regular basis learn new material more effectively and are highly engaged in their studies, develop particularly strong networks and relationships that typically become lifelong friendships.

Year 1

During the first two semesters students complete a total of seven core modules, four of which consist of two parts, providing a
sound knowledge and understanding of key business and managerial areas. The core modules are assessed typically by both examination and written assignment.

Year 2

During the third semester, students select up to five elective modules of their choice from those offered to enhance their
knowledge and skills in areas of particular interest and relevance to their current position and career advancement. These
modules are taught at EBS, but optional elective modules are also offered at Durham University Business School.

In the fourth semester, students write their dissertation, which frequently relates to a topic of particular relevance for their employer or professional role, or may be one of personal interest. The 15,000 word individual dissertation provides an opportunity to focus on a management topic of personal choice, utilising knowledge, theory and skills acquired throughout the programme.

performance, motivation and personality. The selection of funding of studies is diverse and often a combination of the different options is useful.

  • Scholarships - financial and / or non-material support, no repayment, no interest

In addition to a 10% reduction in the standard tuition fee for those students who meet the Early Application deadline of August 31, the EMBA programme also provides limited scholarships to qualifying applicants ranging from 5% to 50% of the tuition fee, including:

Interested candidates submit a completed scholarship application form. A joint Durham-EBS Scholarship Committee assesses all first-round applications prior to 15 September, and all second round applications prior to 15 November.

  • Education Fund - Financial and moral support, if necessary, repayment including interest rates, repayment starts only after graduation

The former club of the EBS “EBS Alumni” supports students of EBS through a separate education fund.

  • Financing - Financial support by financial institutions, repayment including interest rates, repayment generally starts after signing the contract
