The aim of this module is to provide the participants with a sound understanding of fundamental concepts and approaches in strategy development and implementation and to enable them to apply these concepts to specific situations. The topics cover various competitive issues faced by businesses in different industries, issues faced by diversified corporations, and multinational corporations. Many of the strategic approaches introduced in this module draw on microeconomic theories and concepts, e.g. industrial organization economics and transaction cost economics. The module also covers topics such as industry structure and evolution, resource-based view of the firm, competitive dynamics, business model development, innovation, strategic alliances, internationalization, multinational structures, etc.
