More student housing

The modern apartment complex is being built on a 9,000 m² plot of land bordering the EBS campus to the west. In future, up to 140 EBS students and visiting professors can be accommodated in furnished one- to four-room apartments. It is planned to offer an online platform showing the rooms’ floor plans and also providing online booking facilities. According to Tilman Gartmeier, CEO of Cube Real Estate, the students’ wish for uncomplicated, flexible housing arrangements has existed for a long time. “We want to fulfil this need by building in the immediate neighbourhood of the university, thus making it easier for international students, in particular, to gain access to housing facilities. After two years’ of negotiating building rights, we can finally begin and we are pleased to make the first cut of the spade today.”
EBS Managing Director Holger Follmann is also very happy that building has started: “The project EBS Village shows that the EBS continues to move forward. At the same time, it is a commitment to Oestrich-Winkel as a location and a sign that we are firmly rooted in the Rheingau region. With EBS Village we are creating a campus on which to learn and to live - for students from all over the world.”
The EBS Village will be planned and built by Cube Real Estate GmbH in Cologne, formerly student cube GmbH. The team also includes project controllers zarinfar GmbH, Cologne and general contractor Köster Bau of Osnabrück. The plot of land was purchased in 2013, the resolution approving the development plan was finalised in May 2016. The total investment volume for this building project amounts to approximately 12.5 million euros.
