EBS Universität further expands sustainable and social topics in teaching and research

Prof. Dr. Falko Paetzold, Qualification Professor for Social Finance
Paetzold’s research examines the decision-making processes of wealthy private investors in the context of social finance and ways in which investors can maximize their positive impact. He holds a magna cum laude doctorate from the University of Zurich and an MBA from the University of St. Gallen (HSG) in Switzerland with the distinction Dean’s List and Sustainability Leadership. Paetzold was a research fellow and lecturer at the ETH Zurich, a fellow at Harvard University and a post-doctoral fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Paetzold also founded the Center for Sustainable Finance and Private Wealth (CSP) at the University of Zurich as a spin-off of the Impact Investing for the Next Generation program for owners of large private wealth, which he co-initiated as a fellow of the Initiative for Responsible Investment (IRI) at Harvard University. In the past, Paetzold developed sustainable investment fund structures and led M&A projects at Bank Vontobel AG in Zurich and advised banks and family offices as a partner of the consulting firm Contrast Capital. He founded the GreenBuzz network, which enables intrapreneurs in several cities to promote sustainability within their companies. Paetzold holds advisory board positions with the Swiss Association of Asset Managers, the Fintech start-up YOVA AG and the GreenBuzz Zurich network.
At EBS Universität, Paetzold supports the EBS Impact Institute and Gründungsfabrik Rheingau with accompanying research in addition to teaching. “We are delighted to welcome such a high-caliber colleague who will help EBS Universität to move forward in this very important area”, says Dr. Dorothée Hofer, Managing Director of EBS Universität. “We are proud to have Falko Paetzold as such an experienced and progressive thinking professor at our university and look forward to good cooperation”.
