The Sustainable Business Strategy specialisation prepares you to move sustainability from the fringe to the core of business organisations — equipping you with the knowledge and tools to solve global grand challenges while creating lasting business value.
Your future in Sustainable Business and ESG
A Master in Management with a focus on Sustainable Business Strategy positions you at the forefront of one of the fastest-growing career fields. The share of impact jobs increased from 9.6% in 2015 to 13.3% in 2021, and demand continues to far outstrip the skilled talent supply. Graduates are well-prepared for roles such as Sustainability Manager, ESG Analyst, Head of Corporate Responsibility, Climate Finance Specialist, Impact Investment Analyst, Chief Sustainability Officer, or Sustainability Consultant. You will find opportunities across corporations, investment funds, social enterprises, NGOs, public authorities, and consultancies. Industries such as energy, finance, consumer goods, real estate, and technology are actively seeking professionals who can integrate sustainability into core business strategy. This specialisation also prepares you for roles in international organisations, policy advisory, and purpose-driven entrepreneurship.

Embedding sustainability into the strategic core of organisations
The Sustainable Business Strategy specialisation at EBS equips you with the knowledge and tools to embed sustainability into the strategic core of organisations across three complementary courses. In Strategy and Impact for the SDGs, you will explore the concepts, instruments, and practices of climate finance, focusing on how capital can be directed toward climate change mitigation and adaptation in line with the Paris Agreement and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. You will learn how financial flows — public, private, or blended — are shaping the global low-carbon transition, and how organisations can measure, manage, and communicate their climate impact. The course examines the role of governments, multilateral institutions, corporations, and investors in bridging the investment gap, using case studies ranging from green bonds and climate funds to corporate initiatives. Guest speakers from corporate and policy sectors bring real-world perspectives, and you will engage critically with policy debates and international negotiations. In Applied Strategies for Sustainable Development, you will apply your knowledge through a simulation and a real-life case study. In the simulation, your team adopts the role of the Corporate Responsibility Department at a fictional company with global operations, navigating conflicting stakeholder demands and making strategic recommendations over five simulated years of operations. In the case study, you will work with industry experts to analyse business models that drive positive change, developing concepts for purpose-driven strategy, impact measurement, and stakeholder communication. In Environmental Strategies and Value Creation, you will examine how leading businesses are moving sustainability from siloed CSR departments into the core of enterprise operations, covering environmental supply chain disruptions, sustainability reporting requirements, ESG demands, sustainable product marketing, global resource management, and sustainable technology. Through case studies, business games, and simulations, you will develop practical skills in applying sustainability strategies, management tactics, and tools within a rapidly evolving paradigm where environmental strategy and value creation go hand in hand.
Across all three courses, you will learn through simulations, case studies, business games, and guest speakers from corporate and policy sectors, gaining both the strategic vision and the practical skills to lead the sustainability transformation. The specialisation equips you to integrate an impact mindset into governance, strategy, and performance targets, defend sustainability strategies against budgetary pushback, and embed environmental strategies into the core operations of enterprise functional disciplines.
