Got an idea that could change an industry? The Entrepreneurship & Innovation specialisation equips you with the skills you need to build ventures from the ground up and evaluate them through the eyes of an investor.
Your future in entrepreneurship and venture capital
The start-up world rewards those who can think like founders and act like investors. Graduates of this specialisation are well-positioned for roles such as start-up founder, venture capital analyst, innovation manager, business development lead or corporate entrepreneur. With a solid grounding in start-up dynamics, investor thinking and entrepreneurial finance, you will be ready to create and evaluate business opportunities with confidence. This specialisation is equally valuable for those who want to build their own ventures, giving you the strategic tools, investor mindset and practical experience you need to turn ideas into scalable businesses.
The success of our alumni
The entrepreneurial spirit of EBS graduates is best illustrated by those who have been recognised by Forbes 30 Under 30, one of the world’s most prestigious rankings of outstanding young talent.
EBS alumna Felicia von Reden co-founded the Berlin-based health-tech start-up Ovom Care in 2023, with the goal of enhancing fertility treatment using artificial intelligence. Matteo Benedetti, also an EBS alumnus, is co-founder and co-CEO of Debtist, driving forward the digital transformation of debt collection. Both alumni were named on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe 2025 list, demonstrating the entrepreneurial edge that a specialisation in start-ups and venture capital can provide.

Think like a founder and invest like a venture capitalist
The Entrepreneurship & Innovation specialisation at EBS gives you a dual perspective on the start-up world – from building a business as a founder to evaluating it as an investor. You will explore how start-ups are launched and scaled globally, what separates successful ventures from the rest, and how entrepreneurs navigate pivots, funding rounds and growth challenges through real-life case studies and guest speakers from the start-up and venture capital scene.
The programme also takes you inside the world of venture capital and corporate venture capital, covering investment criteria, start-up valuation and the day-to-day realities of a venture capital career. You will develop your own start-up idea, pitch it before a jury of academics and practitioners, and back it with a full investment report. Field trips, Harvard Business case studies and individual essay assignments round out the experience, ensuring you graduate with both analytical rigour and entrepreneurial confidence to make your mark.
