Off to Middle-Earth: Studying at the foot of the Mount of Doom

New Zealand is not just known for its breathtaking scenery and nature, but also for its excellent education system. With a population of just under four million, 8 fully-fledged universities accommodate a total of 180,000 students.

Both EBS new partner schools, Victoria University Law School and the Business School, are well known and highly regarded worldwide.  In winter 2010, the Faculty of Commerce and Administration at Victoria University was the first business school in New Zealand to be awarded the highly-recognized AACSB accreditation. In addition to addressing "traditional" law areas such as business, labour and competition law, copyright and patent laws, research at the Law School also focuses on international business law and associated subjects such as the World Trade Organisation (WTO) Laws, international copyright and patent laws or international investment law.

Although New Zealand is literally on the other side of the world, people here are open-minded, innovative and characterized by their can-do mentality. "Vic", as the Victoria University of Wellington is affectionately referred to by its students and staff, is the ideal starting point for exploring not only New Zealand's academic landscape but also the country's natural wonders.

Located on the coast at Cook Strait, Wellington with its excellent beaches and surf centres offers something for everyone. Traffic infrastructure on both islands is excellent, so travelling is not a problem.

And last not least, Peter Jackson's fantastic film trilogy "The Lord of the Rings" brought the spotlight on New Zealand's breathtaking landscape. Even Wellington, the small but beautiful capital of the island republic, became the centre of global attention and has since become an attraction for all Tolkien and Jackson fans.

Those seeking relaxation after spending long hours in state-of-the-art lectures rooms are in easy reach of Mount Ngauruhoe, the mountain that plays an important role as Mount Doom in Peter Jackson's world famous film "The Lord of the Rings". Those who are not so keen on climbing or experiencing volcanic sights can take the ferry to South Island and visit cities such as Christchurch und Dunedin.
