Multi-Tier Supply Chain Risk Management in Automotive and Aerospace Industries
In mid 2012, the EBS Business School’s Institute for Supply Chain Management – Procurement and Logistics (ISCM) and d-fine GmbH formed a collaborative research team in order to gather new insights into the increasingly apparent challenges in multi-tier supply chain risk management in the automotive and commercial aerospace industries. The team’s ultimate goal was to promote a constructive, solution-driven dialogue between academic researchers, consultants and practitioners in supply chain risk management. Intended as a starting point for dialogue, this study outlines the research results achieved so far. Contributors, representing the academic and the private sector, provided the institutional collaboration and expertise needed to tackle this complex topic.
Sourcing Governance Code
Codes of conduct have become important instruments for socially responsible supplier management. Since many firms and institutional actors nowadays pursue the goal of ethical supplier management, a cascade of codes of conduct has emerged. However, this plurality poses multiple problems on its own account. Within the context of our research project Sustainable Sourcing Excellence, we therefore promote the development of standardized and efficient guidelines for sustainable supply chain management. In cooperation with numerous practitioners requirements and potential barriers for such a Sourcing Governance Code (SGC) are discussed. This study presents a first design sketch for such a standard.
