International Hallmark of Quality:
Successful AMBA Accreditation for MBA Programme

By: Cornelia Glees-zur Bonsen

European Business School (EBS) Wiesbaden/Rheingau has been awarded an important hallmark of international distinction for its part-time executive MBA programme: accreditation from the UK's Association of MBAs, in short AMBA. The organisation was established in 1967 in London and accredits postgraduate management education programmes to stringent quality standards.

The EBS programme lasts two years and is delivered in cooperation with Durham Business School (DBS) in the UK. The so-called DBS & EBS Executive MBA Programme focuses specifically on the core competencies of international executives: strategic thinking, leadership skills and intercultural awareness are the professional skills needed to become an international manager and open up perspectives for top leadership positions.

Durham's unique 'Boardroom Simulation' is an integral part of the programme: As a board member, participants present their strategies for the further development of an internationally active company in a simulated board meeting.

In the course of the AMBA accreditation process that lasts several months an expert team assesses the quality, internationality and closeness to practice of the programmes offered. Additionally, the on-site assessment involves intensive talks with the faculty, the alumni and the students. Currently MBA programmes at 152 business schools in 69 countries around the world are accredited by AMBA.
