Institute for Business Ethics

The Institute for Business Ethics forsters and promotes responsible behaviour, trust and partnership within companies and ebs students towards society in general. It is directed by Prof. Dr. Hartmut Kreikebaum (Emeritus), Prof. Dr. Richard Raatzsch and Prof. Dr. Max Urchs and Dr. Marcus Kreikebaum, who is conducting practical ethical programs (Service Learning). Its research efforts focus on the critical analysis of existing ethical programs. The institute will also assist in establishing new projects and partnerships. A Business Ethics Roundtable will provide the opportunity to exchange new strategies and ideas on corporate ethics.

The new institute will focus upon social skills and ethical competence by integrating practical experience into the curriculum of business ethics at ebs. By doing so, it will reinforce the already successful Good Citizenship-Program for students of business administration. This program provides internships or other practical opportunities within welfare institutions, NGO´s, and Corporate Citizenship activities. Students will be involved in socially important tasks (e.g., supporting African Aids organizations, orphanages in Eastern Europe, and childcare facilities in Germany). Their personal experience will provide them with a deeper sense and appreciation of social values. It will give them a head start for their future responsibility in corporate management.

The EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht Business Ethics Institute is supported by a Board of Trustees, whose members will contribute substantially to the development of this unique research center and will supervise its activities.
