Competence Center

The most recent economic crisis demonstrates how difficult it is to make prognoses in a globally-networked economy. Therefore, the development of substantiated simulative futures scenarios is useful and relevant for corporations as well as political economics.

Against this background, the Institute for Futures Studies and Knowledge Management was founded at the EBS Business School. Under the direction of Dr. Heiko A. von der Gracht, the Institute conducts foresight studies in order to support companies and political decision makers in developing long-term strategies.

The Institute focuses on systematic, scientifically grounded futures research. Our primary objective is generating futures knowledge for decision processes in politics, business and economics as well as researching innovative methods in forecasting management. We are a university research institute, which follows strict scientific standards and has access to a global network of universities and businesses.

  1. We bring methods and expertise together
  2. We follow scientific quality criteria: rigourousness – neutrality – objectivity
  3. We benefit from a global think tank from business, politics, and science

Within the scope of contract research, we operate with our partners in three main areas:

  • Strategic Guidance
  • Competitive Intelligence
  • Community Building
