In May 2012, EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht was granted 10-year accreditation by the German Council of Science and Humanities. This academic seal of approval is awarded to private higher education institutions whose teaching and research performance meet recognized academic standards. Depending on the outcome of the accreditation process, accreditation is granted for a maximum term of ten years.

The Council of Science and Humanities is one of the leading science policy advisory bodies in Germany. It advises the Federal Government and the governments of the German federal states on the development of science, research and higher education. During the Council's multi-step accreditation process, which comprises the presentation of a self-report and an external peer review visit lasting several days, the institution is assessed across eight priority areas. These include the academic quality of teaching and research, infrastructure and facilities, as well as quality assurance and development. In awarding the 10-year accreditation, the Council highlighted EBS convincing growth strategy, the University's outstanding success in the acquisition of third-party funding and its broad self-conception as an institution dedicated to education and research.

In April 2012, EBS Business School was awarded three-year accreditation by the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS). EQUIS accreditation is confirmation that management education at EBS meets the highest international standards. EBS Business School is now one of around 142 business schools worldwide that have received this prestigious seal of quality In Germany only four business studies faculties meet the rigorous quality criteria of EQUIS accreditation. Key deciding factors for granting accreditation to EBS Business School were, among others, excellence in teaching and research and the international dimension of the School's programmes. The awarding body also praised the comprehensive programme portfolio and international outreach of executive education activities. In a number of categories EBS Business School not only fulfilled but even exceeded EQUIS stringent requirements. These categories include in particular the Business School's strong practical orientation through excellent links to the corporate world, as well as the outstanding support and extensive range of offerings provided to students in the area of personal development and coaching.

EQUIS accreditation is awarded by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). EFMD is a global network of leading business schools based in Brussels, which aims to raise the quality of management education throughout the world. The European Quality Improvement System serves to assess the quality of management education at business schools and at university business and management faculties in accordance with uniform international standards. In a rigorous selection process, which also includes a peer review visit lasting several days, candidates are assessed against a set of ten criteria. These include the quality of programmes, research and executive education. Demanding high academic standards, EQUIS places great value on practical orientation in teaching and research through cooperation and strong connections with the corporate world. However, equally important are the institution's degree of internationalization, its contribution to the community and its capacity for innovation. EQUIS is a continuous improvement process. When the term of accreditation expires, candidates are required to re-apply for accreditation.

FIBAA akkreditiert

FIBAA

All study programmes at EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht are state-recognized and accredited by the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA). State approval of Bachelor's and Master's programmes is a prerequisite for accreditation by one of the ten accreditation agencies operating in German-speaking countries.

FIBAA specializes in the accreditation of business studies programmes. Accreditation by FIBAA is a multi-step process, in which an expert group appointed by the agency assesses the quality of the programme in hand. Assessment also includes an on-site visit by the team of experts, with a particular focus on the evaluation of the study programme's international dimension, the career prospects for graduates from the programme and the practical orientation of courses. Accreditation is awarded for a term of five years. After expiration of this term the university is required to apply for re-accreditation and has to go through the assessment process once more. Re-accreditation is granted for a period of up to seven years.
