Professorship of Philosophy of Science

Professor Dr. Max Urchs is responsible for the studium universale at EBS.

Starting with winter term 2003/2004 all newly immatriculated students are offered a completely new program on Philosophy & Economics that accompanies their whole studies.

It is an innovative offer, especially adapted to the needs of a private Business School that does not exist anywhere else in this form.

Philosophy & Economics is based upon two pillars: theoretical philosophy (especially philosophy of science) and practical philosophy (especially ethics and business ethics). These pillars correspond to the aims of promoting interdisciplinarity and personality development. Acknowledging the interrelatedness of different subject matters makes students fit for a research landscape that is more and more complex. Personal growth is the precondition for leadership. It is realized by reflection on the conception of oneself and by sensibiliziation for the multi-dimensionality of managerial decisions. More precisely, by sensibilization for the fact that economic and social aspects are intertwined.
