EBS Law School accepted as member of the Deutscher Juristen-Fakultätentag (DJFT)

  • Academically sound education at EBS Law School
  • Promoting the exchange of information and the sharing of experiences with other law faculties
  • Significant step in the development of the youngest law faculty in Germany

The Standing Committee of the Deutscher Juristen-Fakultätentag (DJFT) approves the application made by EBS Law School and confirms its membership in the faculties association.

"I am delighted that so soon after its foundation EBS Law School has become a member of the Deutscher Juristen-Fakultätentag (German Law Faculties Association)", commented Professor Dr Dr Gerrick Frhr. v. Hoyningen-Huene, Dean of EBS Law School. "We intend to use our membership to push ahead with and intensify the important exchange of information and experiences with other faculties." In arriving at its decision to accept EBS Law School into its ranks, the DJFT committee was guided not only by the University having received state recognition, but also by the fact that the law faculty at EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht prepares students for the degree qualification "First Examination in Law" (previously First State Examination) and has the right to confer doctoral degrees.

The DJFT, an association of law faculties and law departments at universities in Germany, now has 44 members. The organization aims to promote cooperation between the member faculties and, in particular, to strengthen the exchange of information and ideas on contemporary developments and issues in higher education and science policy. To serve this aim, the DJFT represents the interests of its members to the public and in the political decision-making process. In order to carry out its responsibilities, the DJFT maintains close contact with the Ministries of Justice at federal and state level and also with the Law Examinations Offices in each of the federal states. At the European level the DJFT represents all German law faculties in the ELFA (European Law Faculties Association) and is their representative across the different academic disciplines in Germany in the Allgemeiner Fakultätentag.

EBS Law School is committed to promoting academically sound education and academic excellence, to supporting the creation of outstanding conditions for research and teaching and to ensuring that the highest quality standards are maintained. In order to meet these aspirations, membership in the DJFT is a step in the right direction.
