Hesse Ministry of Higher Education, Research and the Arts awards EBS full university status
Wiesbaden/Rheingau, 1.9.2011 – As of 1 September 2011 and after a two-year development phase as a university under formation, EBS has been awarded the status and designation "EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht" by the Hesse Ministry of Higher Education, Research and the Arts (HMWK). This award was made as planned following creation of the necessary academic structures for the establishment and opening of EBS Law School as a second faculty at EBS.
"The Minister's decision is a welcome piece of news for all staff members, professors and students at EBS as well as for our alumni, friends and sponsors. We are grateful for the trust and confidence the Minister has placed in us. We consider this decision both a motivation and a clear signal of support for the further development of EBS Universität and EBS Law School“, said the President of EBS Universität, Professor Rolf D. Cremer.
With the Business School's expansion into a Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht EBS is going down in the annals of German university history as a pioneer for the second time around: Founded in 1971 as the first private higher education institution for business and management studies in Germany, it has now become Germany's first University of Business and Law.
