Housing office
Dear students, welcome to EBS Universität!
To find suitable accommodation is difficult enough considering, that international students require furnished and equipped accommodation, most German landlords do not speak English and the rents are quite high due to constantly rising expenditures prices. But in a small town like Oestrich Winkel where you compete with German students, it can get very difficult.
Since EBS Universität does not provide dorm space for all our students, yet, our main objective is to assist international students who arrive for the first time, in finding accommodation for their term or year at the university. Please be aware that we can not guarantee accommodation to each of you but provide a number of useful services that will help you to find your flat.
1) If you participate in our “Flat Hunt” you will profit form the all-inclusive package of reservation, contracting, and (if you register for our pick up service) “key at arrival” service. Your data will be given to Housing office after you have been accepted to the courses. We will contact you with more information.
During “Flat Hunt” Non-European exchange students may apply for an EBS dorm and all students for accommodation of our private partners, who offer a wide range of housing, starting with dorm-type facilities, over smaller flat-shares to single apartments. This accommodation is visited by Housing at least once a year and the renting conditions are created as convenient as possible for students. Many landlords offer all-inclusive prices, most contracts are in English and many landlords include internet connection into the package.
1a) One special aspect of the Flat Hunt is the possibility during Spring Terms to sublease a flat from one of our German students going abroad. Mostly single flats in the area of Oestrich. Please check out the “EBS Student” offers on this page. www.ebs.edu/wdb/
2) Searching for accommodation on your own:
If you wish to search on your own, Housing provides you with a collection of helpful real estate search engines. You will find them on the right side of the location web sites.
Some websites specialize in providing a platform for students to find and to offer accommodation. Sites called “WG or “Studie” are those you would be looking for.
Looking forward to see you all here
Here is a game - if you want to check your flat share abilities and your German.
